Young Ghanaian Global Health Expert gains top WHO job

The World Health Organization has appointed young Ghanaian Global Health Expert , Dr Khalifa Banda onto its prestigious working committee , Technical Advisory Group on Emergency Preparedness and Response .

Dr Banda who has attained international acclaim for his outstanding contribution to his field of expertise is the only Ghanaian appointee and youngest member of the ( WHO ER – TAG ) newly constituted for the African continent.

The elite Advisory Group is an independent technical committee tasked by the global body , WHO as an advisory entity for strategic policy reforms and formulation on all critical issues related to Emergency preparedness on public health conditions on the continent.

The elite group features 15 respected public health professionals drawn from across the globe chosen from a rigorous selection process involving over 600 applicants.

The appointment marks a continued progress in the career of the young Ghanaian public health Expert recognising the valued expertise in public health , vaccine development and epidemiology spanning over a decade plus.

Dr Banda joins the ranks with other accomplished young health Experts from countries like Nigeria ( Dr Obere Ekereke ), South Africa ( Professor Helen Rees) , and the USA ( Professor Rebecca Martin and Dr. Rick Bright).

Before this achievement, Dr Banda joined the African Centre for Disease Control’s Editorial Board as a section Editor and Managing Director for an NGO , Centre for Advancing Health Systems Innovations.
