The National Identification Authority (NIA) has begun issuing printed Ghana Cards in the Greater Accra Region, starting Monday, April 7, 2025. The exercise is aimed at clearing the backlog of uncollected cards from applicants who registered for first-time issuance, replacements, or updates.

The NIA is urging applicants to return to the district offices where they initially registered to pick up their cards. Issuance for first-time applicants remains free, while standard fees apply for card replacements and corrections.

In a public statement, the Authority also warned against unauthorized charges, encouraging individuals to report any staff who demand payments outside the approved fees.

The Ghana Card continues to be a crucial national ID for accessing banking services, participating in elections, and registering SIM cards, among others.
