WAFU B U-20 women’s tournament: Ghana faces Burkina Faso in a semi final clash

The national women’s U-20 team, the black princesses of Ghana, are set to face Burkina Faso in the semi finals of the WAFU Zone B U-20 women’s tournament following their 3-1 win over Ivory Coast at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.

A brace from Maafia Nyame and a goal from Stella Nyamekye aided the team to beat the elephants of Cote Divoire who gave Ghana a tight contest in the match.

The first games In group B, Nigeria beat Burkina Faso by three goals to nil and Togo beat Niger by three goals to nil as well.

In the second game, Nigeria beat Togo by six goals to nil and Burkina Faso defeated Niger by eight goals to nil in that encounter, so fourteen goals were scored in the first two matches.

At the end of the group stage Matches, Ghana topped group A with six points plus six goals and conceded one goal while Nigeria also finished as group B winners having scored nine goals and conceded none in two matches.

The semi finals will have Ghana taking on Burkina Faso who qualified with three points from group B after losing to Nigeria in the first game and winning their second game against Niger to book their spot in the semi finals of the competition.

The second semi final tie will feature Nigeria who have scored nine goals in two games against Benin.

The black princesses of Ghana are expected to go all the way to clinch the title after crushing Niger by eleven goals to nil in their Pre-tournament friendly at the Accra sport stadium.

Maafia Nyame who netted brace in the second game and the other players of the team are training tirelessly to ensure the trophy stays in Ghana and probably secure qualification to the U-20 women’s AFCON.
