The West African Council of Education (WAEC) has revealed that provisional results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates will be released today, 18th December 2023.
In an official statement, the Council explained that candidates can access their provisional examination results on the dedicated WASSCE results checking portal at ghana.waecdirect.org.
While WAEC tirelessly works on the succeeding procedures of printing and sending the original copies to the different institutions where the candidates wrote the examination, the online portal will act as the initial point of result dissemination.
In this year’s examination, a total of 447,204 candidates, including 235,370 females and 211,834 males participated in the examination. This shows a 5.8% increase in participation as compared to 2022’s total figure of 422, 883 candidates.
Whilst statistics on the results are yet to be released, here are some steps on checking WASSCE results.

• Dial *800*055# on your mobile device (all networks)
• Choose WASSCE results checker
• Confirm price and description and select 1
• Authorize payment via mobile money
• You will receive the checker via SMS
Steps to check WASSCE results online
• Visit the WAEC results checking portal at ghana.waecdirect.org
• When the page loads, ‘Enter your Index Number’.
• Select the Type of Examination (e.g. WASSCE).
• Select your Examination Year e.g. 2023
• Enter the Serial Number found on the Voucher you purchased.
• Enter the 12-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Voucher e.g. 012388678910.
• Confirm your Index Number and Examination Year.
• Click on Submit
• Results will be displayed

How to buy WASSCE result checker on phone with mobile money
• Visit resultschecker.com.gh with your smartphone or PC
• Choose the card type you want to buy. e.g.: WAECDirect Results Checker
• Enter the number of cards you want to buy, and the amount will be automatically calculated
• Click on “Buy Now”
• You will be taken to a new screen where you enter your name and phone number (Card details will be sent via SMS to the phone number you enter here)
• Click on “Proceed to Payment”
• On the next screen, select Mobile Money and enter your MoMo number. You will be sent an OTP to confirm.
• Confirm the payment on your phone.
• You will instantly receive an SMS with the WASSCE Results Checker PIN and Serial and instructions to check.
