#VGMA24: Black Sherif crowned Artiste of the Year

Black Sherif has emerged as the biggest winner at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), after he was crowned the Artiste of the Year.

The award ceremony, which was held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre, saw the young artiste taking home one of the most prestigious awards of the night.

Black Sherif, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sherif, rose to fame in 2021 with his hit song “Second Sermon”, which became an instant hit and went viral on social media. Since then, he has become one of the most sought-after artists in the Ghanaian music industry.

The Artiste of the Year award is a highly coveted award that recognizes the most outstanding artiste in the Ghanaian music industry over the past year. The nominees for the award were chosen based on their overall contribution to the industry, as well as their impact on the music scene.

Black Sherif beat off stiff competition from other top artists, including Piesie Esther, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, KiDi, , and others, to win the award.

In his acceptance speech, Black Sherif expressed his gratitude to his fans, his team, and everyone who has supported him throughout his musical journey.

The VGMA24, which was organized by Charterhouse Ghana Limited, also saw other top artists, including Sarkodie, King Promise, Gyakie, Perez Music, and Stonebwoy, winning awards in various categories.
