Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo has expressed her satisfaction with the gradual rollout of activities earmarked for the University’s 75th anniversary.
The University of Ghana’s 75th anniversary was launched in August 2022, under the theme ” Nurturing resilience, adopting technology, embracing humanism.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Univers News at the sidelines of the University of Ghana Alumni Homecoming On Sunday 2nd April 2023, the Vice Chancellor noted that the vision of the theme for the celebrations is gradually within reach of attainment
“Well, the 75th anniversary is going very well. We launched the anniversary celebrations in August last year. Since then we’ve had a few lectures. We’ve had two public lectures; one on energy by Mr. Egbert Faibaille Jnr. The other one was on resilience and corruption which was delivered by Mr. Manassah Azure. This thursday, we are having another public lecture on the economy by Dr. Yao Graham. We’ve had some sporting activities as well. And we’ve had an evening of relaxation with a jam rock which is co-owned by one of our alumina.”
The Vice-Chancellor went on to reveal that there are more events yet to take place as part of the activities involved in the celebrations of the University’s 75th Anniversary.
She was confident in the progress of the activities planned for the anniversary celebrations.
“Well, there are a number of other activities that are also lined up. Even including the alumni related activities. This is one such. And there are many more. Yes, the homecoming. There are many more to come. So far, so good. We are moving on as planned as far as the 75th anniversary celebrations are concerned.”
The University of Ghana Alumni Homecoming took place on Friday, March 31, 2023, and Sunday 2nd April 2023. The two-day event climaxed with the unveiling of the Garden of Fame monument by the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo.
