‎Management of the  University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has condemned the conduct of a member of its Dress Code Compliance Team after a viral video emerged showing an altercation with a Level 100 female student.

‎The video, which showed the student being dragged by a staff member toward a lecture hall, sparked widespread public reaction after circulating on social media.

‎In a statement released today and signed by Director of Public Affairs Aba Lokko, the University stated that “the behaviour of the staff was unacceptable and it condemns it outright,” adding that UPSA “holds the dignity and well-being of every student as paramount and reaffirms that no staff member has the right to mistreat any student under any circumstances.”

‎The Vice-Chancellor has since rendered a personal apology to the affected student, affirming the institution’s commitment to maintaining a respectful and professional learning environment. The officer involved also issued a written apology, acknowledging inappropriate behavior.

‎In a letter to Management, the student expressed regret for her conduct during the incident.

‎The university noted that it is currently reviewing its dress code enforcement protocols to ensure interactions between staff and students are guided by the institution’s core values of integrity, respect, and service.

‎“As part of this, additional training will be provided to the Dress Code Compliance Team to reinforce appropriate conduct while performing their duties,” the release stated.

‎UPSA maintained that while the dress code remains a key part of its identity as a professional institution, enforcement will be carried out with civility and due process at all times.
