The University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has called on university management to urgently address the poor state of lecture rooms at the Jones Quartey Building (JQB).
In a letter dated July 7, 2025, the SRC highlighted numerous complaints from students regarding the dilapidating condition of the facility, which remains one of the most frequently used academic buildings on campus.
”The SRC has officially petitioned University Management, urging swift attention to the renovation and upgrade of all affected lecture rooms at JQB,” the statement signed by SRC President Maradona Adjei Yeboah read.
The Council described the situation as urgent, stressing the need to transform JQB into a more conducive and student-friendly academic environment, especially considering the building’s heavy usage by students across various disciplines.
The SRC further reaffirmed its commitment to student welfare and academic excellence, stating that it will continue to engage relevant university offices until the necessary renovations are carried out.
”We are not just calling for change but we are committed to collaborating with Management to ensure this change becomes reality,” it added.
