The University of Ghana Student Representative Council (UGSRC) has announced its intentions to execute a non-resident shuttle system to facilitate commuting to campus for students who reside off the university’s campuses.
In a communique released on May 16th, 2024, the SRC stated that the system would help reduce the stress faced by non-residents with commuting to lecture halls daily.
“The SRC is pleased to announce plans to introduce a non-residential shuttle system to enhance your commuting experience on campus. This shuttle system will transport students from designated stations around campus directly to their lecture halls, reducing the stress and hassle associated with commuting.”
Intending to make an informed decision, they are urging non-resident students to partake in the ongoing census poll judiciously.
“To ensure the effectiveness of this service, we kindly request all non-residential students to fill out the following form:
https://forms.gle/2hQqloctixeptqVS7
This form will help us determine the most convenient station locations and estimate the number of students interested in using the service from each station.”
Speaking to Univers News, some students have admitted the initiative was indeed efficacious, however, shared concerns about its implementation.
“How they are going to structure it to fit the schedule of each non-resident is going to be a huge problem but aside from that it’s a good initiative,” students stated.
This initiative follows the current hike in transport fares as a result of the increase in petroleum products.
