UGSRC Presidential candidate and his running mate, Emanuel Owusu Amponsah (ManuelLife) and Lawrence Edinam Egleh have expressed frustration over the UGSRC electoral commissioner’s to submit nomination forms to him alone.

This stance was made when the candidates, during their submission of nomination forms, were met with the absence of the UGSRC Electoral Commissioner, Mudassir Braimah, who was supposed to receive their nomination at the SRC Union Building.

They voiced out their concerns in an exclusive interview with Radio Univers.

“So we came here around 3:20 to submit our nominations. But unfortunately, we came here and we had an information that the EC said he’s having a class. So we are here waiting for him. So we’ve been here for the past one hour plus. We are still waiting for the EC to be here so that we can submit our nominations to him,” ManuelLife complained.

“Personally, I think although we are in academic community where as a student you do have to attend class but at a certain point in time that as someone who has been appointed as EC at least, you staying around to receive a nomination… and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that but since you are in an academic community you are waiting for him to come from his class.”

ManuelLife’s running mate, Lawrence Egleh criticized the Electoral Commissioner’s directive that all forms be submitted to him personally.

“Basically, I feel the clause which stated in the communique he released stating that all forms should be submitted specifically to him is flawed. Because I don’t understand the reason why there would be deputies and you state that the form should be submitted to just yourself. So you ask yourself what is the essence of having deputies? It is as a result of the fact that you wouldn’t always be available, that’s why you have deputies.”

“He has held us handicapped to the extent that we are waiting for [him] to come..we have other engagements to make, we have other places to be for equally important interests pertaining to the students. But we’ve been handicapped here only to wait for you to finish doing whatever you want to do before you attend to us.”
