In response to the recent vetting impasse, the PRO Vice-Chancellor (ASA) of the University of Ghana, Professor Gordon Awandare, has announced a series of measures aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent vetting and election process.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive (#CampEx) on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Prof. Awandare detailed the steps Management is taking to uphold the integrity of the process.

“This is a shared responsibility for students to conduct themselves well and follow due process. I made it clear that the University would not tolerate any misconduct from any students,” Prof. Awandare emphasized.

Key measures include:

1. Faculty Observer: A faculty member will be present as an observer during the vetting and election process to ensure that everything is conducted properly.

2. Live Transmission:The entire process will be transmitted live for everyone to watch, including the University Legal Council, to ensure transparency and accountability.

3. Strict Regulations: Any misconduct during the process will be dealt with according to the university’s regulations. Students who make allegations without evidence will be subject to disciplinary actions.

Prof. Awandare reiterated the importance of adhering to these guidelines to maintain the credibility of the elections.

“Anyone who makes any allegations will have to prove it; otherwise, he or she will be culpable of disciplinary actions,” he warned.

These measures are designed to foster a fair and orderly vetting and election process, reinforcing the University’s commitment to upholding its standards and regulations.
