University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC) General Secretary aspirant, Emmanuella Oforiwaa Ayisi, has proposed a digital records system to preserve the policies, achievements and activities of successive SRC administrations.
Speaking during her vetting at the SRC Union Building, the Level 300 Sociology and Geography student said the proposed platform would give students easy access to information on the work of previous administrations.
She said that although the SRC has existed for 68 years as of 2026, there is no central platform where students can track the activities and achievements of past administrations.
“What this system seeks to do is to create a digital app where every achievement of every administration will be put. And also every daily routine of every administration will be put to inform the students of how the administration is running,” she said.
Ayisi also proposed a Free Entrepreneurship Drive aimed at connecting student entrepreneurs with investors to support business ideas and existing start-ups.
She said many students have business ideas but lack the financial resources needed to develop them.
“Sometimes you have the idea, but there is no funding to execute that dream. Sometimes you have the startup, but you are unable to expand it to your satisfaction because of lack of funding,” she said.
She said the General Secretary’s role should extend beyond taking minutes and documenting meetings to creating a lasting impact on students.
“The common perception about the role of a General Secretary is that you document and you just write minutes. But it goes beyond that because as a General Secretary, you need to leave a legacy,” she said.
