The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana (UG), Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has encouraged graduates of the July 2026 Congregation to register on the UG Global Alumni Network App to remain connected to the University wherever their careers take them.
She said the app would help strengthen the University’s global alumni network by making it easier for graduates to stay engaged with their alma mater and for the University to reach them whenever necessary.
In a speech read on her behalf by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gordon Awandare, at the Great Hall on Friday, July 24, 2026, Professor Amfo described UG alumni as an integral part of the University’s family and emphasised the importance of maintaining strong ties with the institution.
“Wherever your journeys take you, remember that you remain part of the University of Ghana family. I encourage you to remain connected to the University by registering on the UG Global Alumni Network App, which seeks to unite and mobilise our global alumni community,” she said.
Professor Amfo also challenged the graduates to remain “hungry” for knowledge to enable them to thrive in an evolving world of work and contribute meaningfully to society.
“The world you are entering is changing rapidly, with AI and new technologies transforming the workplace. You have been prepared not only to find jobs but also to create value, solve problems and make a difference. I therefore challenge you to remain curious and committed to the power of learning,” she said.
A total of 1,324 degrees were awarded on Day One of the July 2026 Congregation.
