The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Ghana (UG), Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, has emphasised that national aspirations cannot simply be spoken into existence but must be worked into reality through collective effort and sound public policy.

Speaking at the University of Ghana’s 77th Annual New Year School and Conference (ANYSC) on January 6, 2025, held under the theme “Building the Ghana We Want, Together for Sustainable Development,” Professor Amfo noted that the President’s New Year message reaffirmed a commitment to building a better Ghana, reinforcing her remarks.

“The Ghana we desire cannot be spoken into existence. It must be worked into reality, built by our collective efforts, guided by sound policy and held together by our common bond,” she said.

“Your Excellency, in your New Year message to the nation, you reaffirmed your commitment to building a Ghana anchored in inclusive growth, sustainable infrastructure, energy security, quality education and health care, youth empowerment, environmental responsibility and renewed integrity in public life,” she added.

She stressed that these priorities are crucial for fostering a nation that grows not only economically but also in equity, opportunity, and trust.

“These priorities reflect the Ghana we all desire — a nation that grows not only in economic terms but in equity, opportunity, and trust.”
