Pro Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and students affairs at the University of Ghana, Prof. Gordon Awandare  has revealed that the management of the University  is working to complete the Africa Integras hostel to accommodate more students.

The project  which is expected to be completed by the next academic year is estimated to cost 30 million Ghana Cedis  and hold 904 beds.

Speaking in an interview with Univers News, the Pro- Vice Chancellor  said the project has seen massive progress and hopes to see its completion soon.

We are making good progress but it’s not quite ready yet so we are hoping that [the hostel] may be ready next academic year. we are hoping that that it will be completed be added to the infrastructure in the University.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo  in  August,2022  visited the construction site and promised the completion of the facility by this year.

The Africa Intergras project s was put on hold five years ago due to a disagreement between the school and the contractor, but it was still projected to include a building for the College of Education, a new complex for the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, an increased space for the College of Humanities, a complex to house the Institute of Technology and Applied Science, and a building for the College of Health Sciences to help the University relocate the medical school to the UGCS.

The University was forced to pay the contractor $160 million after losing a legal dispute in a London arbitration court in August 2018, valued at $64 million.
There was so much uncertainty around the Project’s completion due to the never-ending legal dispute.
