Some students of the University of Ghana have expressed mixed reactions to the revised start date for course registration for the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.

This follows a notice from the Academic Affairs Directorate announcing that registration for undergraduate students will now begin on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Univers News spoke to some students who shared varied views on the development. One student said the date, which has been brought forward, is worrying because she was unprepared for the earlier start. She explained that some of her mates, who are able to pay their fees early, may register for courses she intended to take, causing them to become full.

“It has really affected me. My dad processed the money on December 6, and he will receive it on the 16th, but registration starts on the 15th. If it ends up like last semester, I might end up registering for courses I don’t even like,” the frustrated student shared.

Another student, however, said the sudden change has not affected her. “I prepared towards the original deadline, and since that hasn’t changed, I’m still on track,” she explained.

One student revealed that the new registration date has not affected her at all, urging other students to stick to the new dates.

“For me, it hasn’t really affected me because I’ll be paying my fees tomorrow, and from there, I’ll register my courses. I think all students should simply adhere to the registration schedule and go ahead to pay.”

Meanwhile, the Academic Affairs Directorate has urged students to contact their College Academic Offices for academic-related concerns and the Students Accounts Office for financial assistance.

The Directorate also encouraged students to take advantage of the early start to secure their preferred courses and complete the registration process promptly. Tentative dates for random bed allocation are scheduled for Monday, December 29, 2025, for continuing students and Monday, January 12, 2026, for newly admitted Level 100 students.
