Some students at the University of Ghana have expressed strong support for President John Mahama’s Feed Ghana initiative, highlighting its potential to boost food production and strengthen the country’s economy.

The Feed Ghana Program, launched over the weekend, aims to increase food production, enhance food security, and create employment through the adoption of modern farming practices and investment in agricultural infrastructure.

Speaking to Univers News, several students shared their views, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.

“The initiative is a very good one because we will be producing the food we eat instead of importing it. Imported food contains a lot of chemicals. Producing locally will create more jobs as farmers increase output, and this will lead to the establishment of industries to process the produce, ultimately boosting the economy.”

“It is a good policy because it’s going to reduce government expenditure.”

“This initiative is excellent because it will improve people’s living standards by reducing reliance on costly imports that drain Ghana’s GDP. Growing our own food will boost productivity, utilize our labor force, and decrease unemployment. Overall, it is a beneficial program for national development.”

The Feed Ghana initiative is one of the government’s flagship programs intended to transform agriculture into a sustainable, job-creating, and food-secure sector.
