Speaker of the University of Ghana Parliament and 3rd deputy PRO of UG Student Representative Council (SRC), Seidu Rashid has expressed his disapproval for the SRC budget.
This follows the passage of the SRC budget for the Second semester of 2022/2023 academic year by a few general assembly members.

In an exclusive interview on Campus Exclusive, Rashid Seidu described the budget as unjustifiable and inappropriate to be presented before the General Assembly two weeks to the end of the semester.
“This is indefensible; for a whole administration to disregard the matrix of the University of Ghana student representative council constitution, it cannot be defended and I don’t see any logic to this. It is inappropriate for the budget to be presented two weeks before the end of the semester”
Meanwhile, General Assembly Representative for the School of Social Sciences, Daniel Azure has also expressed his disagreement with the delayed submission of the budget. He also raised concerns on the leadership responsible for the budget release.
“I don’t know why the budget will delay till now, per the constitution, the budget is to be presented to the general assembly in our first sit-in, I don’t see a reason why a whole administration will bring a budget on the 9th week, it is sad and pathetic and it all comes down to leadership. The SRC President is supposed to issue an update and then pass the budget. This semester’s budget was equally ready last semester and so I don’t know why this budget should delay till now.”
Other assembly members who were absent for the passage have subsequently petitioned the office of the dean of students to annul the passage of the budget due to concerns such as late scheduling of meeting, number of assembly members passing the budget to mention a few.
It was also reported that the General Assembly Speaker, Ramzy Ahmed Fuseini would not sign the for the budget’s approval until the amount of funds allocated have been reviewed to a maximum of Ghc 500,000.
