The University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (UGSRC) has partnered with Tap n Go, a digital transport system platform to enhance transportation on campus.

As part of the collaboration, five new shuttles were introduced, on which students will be able to board to move around campus through a digital system.

Speaking to UniversNews in an exclusive interview, the SRC Vice President, Zanyoh Edward explained that the buses that will be used are the commonly known ‘Ayaalolo’ green shuttles seen around town.

A card would be required to access the transportation services, including paying for a VIP transport service in Kumasi.

He also stressed on how the initiative prioritised students from City campus and Korle bu who usually come to the main campus for academic purposes, thus lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions.

The SRC Vice President also announced that a day will be dedicated to giving free transport services to students from main campus and City Campus. The free shuttle day is yet to be announced.

“This initiative will highly prioritise the transport needs of students from City campus and Korle bu mostly.”

“The SRC will be having a free shuttle day where the SRC will be giving out free shuttles services for students from the city campus and main campus.”

Some students shared their views on the initiative where most of them applauded the SRC administration for their concern for the students’ conditions and needs.

“This shows that they have our concerns at heart and they’ve started on a good footing, so they shouldn’t end it there but continue to other challenges like the accommodation crises and all.”
