Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology in the University of Ghana; Dr Johnny Andoh-Arthur has praised the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo for improving teaching and learning in some lecture halls through her visionary policy, “Classroom Modernization”.
Speaking to UniversNews, Dr. Andoh-Arthur expressed satisfaction with the modernization of the lecture halls. According to him, the initiative has enhanced quality of teaching and learning during lectures.
“This is one of the most innovative environments we have had in recent times where you come for lectures and visuals and audios are on point. Students can see whatever is being presented. This really enhances teaching and learning. As a Psychologist my emphasis is always on how people’s living conditions can be better to also enrich their lives,” he said.
Dr. Johnny went on to commend the Vice-Chancellor on her initiative, for which he conveyed strong support. He was glad that students face less difficulties in learning during lectures.
“The Vice Chancellor has done very well. This is in line with her vision to modernize teaching and learning and it is something that I strongly support. I am so happy that we come to class and it is not as we use to where students sitting at the back are struggling to view what is being projected. Now, we have monitors at any angle that students sees whatever is being projected and hears the lecturer clearly.”
He also encouraged students to maintain the facilities while making good use of them. He strongly advised against vandalism on the part of students as an attempt to voice their concerns.
“I pray students will appreciate this and try as much as possible to help all of us to maintain it. I know sometimes when students want to voice out certain concerns some of them want to take to all sorts of rioting including vandalism. Look at the amount of money that have been spent in doing this.”
The Vice-Chancellor through her vision to enhance students classroom experience is refurbishing classrooms on the University’s campuses. The project is one of three prolonged technology-driven initiatives expected to enhance teaching and learning in the University.
