UG : Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo unveils musical equipment, elevates music education

The Department of Music at the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts unveiled musical equipment donated by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, in a generous gesture that highlights her commitment to enhancing hands-on music education and academic excellence.

The event was attended by the Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Elizier Ameyaw-Buronyah, Ag. Dean, School of Performing Arts, Prof. Awo Mama Asiedu, Provost, College of Humanities, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori and the student body.

A talented lineup of musical groups, including the UG Wind Ensemble, Kwanpa Band, Adaha Band, UG Pop Band, and Nkyinkyim Band, entertained the audience.

During the unveiling ceremony, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, noted that the donated musical equipment marks a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to delivering world-class music education and performance.

“It is an immense pleasure that I stand before you to unveil this new musical instrument for the University of Ghana. This milestone is a testament to our university commitment to providing world-class facilities that will enable our students to excel in music, education and performance.”

Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo has emphasized that the donated musical equipment will allow the Department of Music to deliver top-notch music programming to the community, fostering a vibrant musical culture.

“This advancement will ensure that they deliver exceptional music for our university community and beyond. I trust the department will maintain these types of equipment ensuring its benefits extend future generations.”

Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo has called on the university community to show their support for the arts by patronizing the School of Performing Arts during musical events.

“I encourage the entire community to support the pop and sounds now to equip to deliver extraordinary performances”

“Just I declared some time ago that we need to patronize the UG Premier Water for all our events so I declare that you should patronize the School of Performing Arts for all our events.”
