The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Ghana, Prof. Gordon Awandare, has cautioned students who have yet to undergo the compulsory Student Medical Examination (SME) to do so as soon as possible.

In a release dated September 9, 2024, the Pro Vice-Chancellor stated that students who fail to undergo the medical examination will be prohibited from registering for the 2024/25 academic year courses.

“This is a final reminder to all students regarding the compulsory Student Medical Examination (SME). As previously communicated on February 1, 2024 (copy attached), any student who does not complete the SME by the end of the 2023/2024 academic year will not be allowed to register for the 2024/2025 academic year.”

Prof. Awandare further urged students who have not yet undergone the examination to treat it as urgent and complete it promptly. He added that those at various stages of the process should expedite completion during the first semester, as they will not be allowed to register for second semester’s courses.

“Students who have not yet started the SME process are urged to do so immediately. Those at various stages of completion must ensure they finish the process by the end of the first semester to avoid being blocked from registering for second-semester courses.”

Below is the statement from the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor.
