The University of Ghana has made a significant change to the course registration process for freshmen admitted to the premier university.
Previously, freshmen registered their courses via the STS portal, while continuing students used the MIS Web for course registration.
However, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic year, both freshmen and continuing students will register their courses on the MIS Web.
Below is the detailed course registration process for freshmen:
For College of Humanities and College of Education students only
- Visit the MIS Web.
- Sign in with your Student ID number and PIN as stated in your admission letter.
- Click on Registration.
- Read the Rules and Regulations, then click I Accept.
- Click Submit Registration and select the Qualification Code.
- Select Register for This Qualification.
- Click Save and Continue.
- Click Save and Continue again.
- Click Continue, then select Accept Registration.
- Select Register Your Programme Option.
- Sign in again using your Student ID number and PIN.
- Click Continue.
- Select the HERC you wish to register
(Applicable only to Level 100 students in the College of Humanities and College of Education). - Select the remaining courses you wish to register for.
- Click Save Record.
- Click Logout.
Registration of Core Courses, UGRCs, and HERCs
1. University of Ghana Required Courses (UGRCs): 3 credits per semester
In the first semester, students must enrol in one of the following University-required courses:
- UGRC 110 – Academic Writing I (3 credits)
- UGRC 150 – Critical Thinking and Practical Reasoning (3 credits)
Note: In the second semester, another UGRC must be taken.
2. Humanities and Education Required Courses (HERCs): 3–4 credits per semester
- In the first semester, students must enrol in any bouquet-based prescribed HERC. In most cases, students can select from four to six courses listed on their registration page after login.
- Courses offered as HERCs, including French Language, normally carry three (3) credits per semester. All other foreign language courses carry two (2) credits per course.
- Students who wish to select a foreign language HERC (other than French) must register for two conjoined foreign language courses, earning four (4) HERC credits for the semester.
- Apart from French, foreign language courses are available only in the first semester.
(In the second semester, another HERC must be selected from the same list presented in the first semester.)
For College of Basic and Applied Sciences and College of Health Sciences students only
- Online registration is done through the MIS Web.
- Click on Registration under the Student iEnabler (on the left side of the screen).
- Click Submit Registration.
- Click the blue text under Qualification Code and select Register for This Qualification.
- Click Save and Continue, and for undergraduate freshmen, register for GCCR101 – General Course Confirming Registration by ticking the small box next to the course.
- Click Save and Continue to view the selected courses.
- Click Continue to view the Registration Cost (Academic Facility User Fee).
- Click Accept Registration to complete the registration.
- Click Printer-Friendly Format and print your proof of registration.
- Click Log Out to exit the system.
