The General Assembly Representative for the University of Ghana Graduate Students Association of Ghana in University of Ghana, Joshua Nii Tackie Essel has filed a lawsuit against the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council over the approval of a new audit board.

The lawsuit was filed on the 4th of May, 2023, in the Superior Court of Judicature in the Judicial Board of the UGSRC in Accra.

According to the plaintiff, the procedural motion filed by the SRC President, Martin Boakye Gyasi to approve the new audit board was defective. The plaintiff added that the audit board was not “duly constituted” as some of its members did not meet the requirements to qualify as members of the audit board.

The plaintiff also declared that the election process of the new audit board was unlawful in nature, hence he is calling for a change in the constitution of the audit board.

The applicant is also asking to be awarded cost for legal fees from the Council.
