Political scientist and lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has urged graduands at the University of Ghana to champion the use of technology in their future endeavors in the professional space.
He spoke at the 2024 Congregation Ceremony for the College of Humanities on January 24, 2024 at the Great Hall in the University of Ghana. According to Prof. Gyampo, technology has revolutionized education in Ghana and worldwide, hence the need for its pioneering beyond the educational space to promote development in their communities.
“As you may all be well aware, technology has revolutionized education in Ghana, providing students and educators with tools for online learning, e-books, and educational apps.”
“This has expanded access to quality education, especially in remote areas and has the potential to bridge all educational gaps. Embracing and leveraging technology is not just a choice but a necessity for development in the 21st century.”
Noting the increment of students graduating from the university over the years, the political scientist remarked the situation as an opportunity for the schools’ management and other stakeholders to reflect on the impact of their policies on the graduands.
“It is evident that the number of students graduating from this university is increasing each year. We deem it a good opportunity on these occasions to reflect on how well management, faculty and indeed all employees are discharging their responsibility for providing appropriate services and support to ensure that students have a positive experience and to satisfy the requirement for graduation and indeed can graduate on time without much stress.”
The University of Ghana has been holding a graduation ceremony for the university’s 2023 graduating batch since the 23rd of January, 2024. The ceremony is expected to last till the 27th of January to officially send off the graduands into the world following the completion of their degrees at the institution.
