The University of Ghana Department of Communication Studies has received a generous donation of five copies of the newly published book ”Communication and Social Change in Africa”, which was co-edited by Dr Theodora Dame Adjin-Tettey, Dr. Manfred A.K. Asuman, and Professor Modestos Fosu.

In remarks made during the short presentation ceremony, Dr Vera Esenam Fordjour stated the Department of Communication Studies was chosen amidst various departments due to Dr. Adjin-Tettey’s deep-rooted history with the institution as both an alumna and a former faculty member.

”We are here to present copies of this book to the departments, and this department was chosen because, as we all know, Dr Adjin-Tettey was part of this department first as a student and then subsequently as a faculty member, and even though she’s not here presently, she is very much involved in the activities of this department, and she still sees herself as part of the faculty here. She feels the department cannot be denied the opportunity to benefit from their hard work. So I’m here on her behalf to present to you five copies of the book.”

Receiving the donation was representatives of the department comprising of Dr Diana Sebbie and Dr Aurelia Ayisi are leading the representatives, and Prof. Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin who expressed her gratitude on behalf of the department to the team noting the book’s relevance to current teaching and research in communication for social and behaviour change.

”The department is very grateful to the editors of the book for thinking of us. A book titled Communication and Social Change in Africa is a welcome resource for our work in this department on any day. At the very least we run courses in social and behaviour change; we run courses in communication campaigns.
These are all courses that are going to be able to benefit from this resource. So we’re happy to be receiving free copies.”

Prof.Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin also further expressed the department’s openness to future collaboration with Dr. Adjin-Tettey and her colleagues.

“Like the Akan Oliver twist we will say so we ask for more whenever she’s able to give. But the other message to her is that our doors are open for collaboration for whatever teamwork we can do with her including other projects, book projects in the future”.
