Provost of College of Education, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe has called for the need to accomodate technology and adapt pedagogical methods to meet the dynamic needs of students in teaching and learning.
The School of Education and Leadership under the College of Education at the University of Ghana on Wednesday 19th July 2023 organised
He was speaking at the Opening session of a presentation on the theme “Enhancing Pedagogical Approaches in Teacher Education and Sports Studies”.
This presentation was organized by the School of Education and Leadership under the College of Education at the University of Ghana on 19th July, 2023 as part of activities to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the University of Ghana.
According to Prof. Codjoe, innovative teaching techniques should be adopted to improve the educational sector considering in the era of technological advancements.
“In this era of rapid technological advancement and involving educational paradigms, it is imperative that we adapt our pedagogical methods to meet the changing needs of our students. We must foster an environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity and problem solving while also nurturing their holistic development.”
He further stated that there was a need for teachers to be supplied with the necessary accoutrements to provide enriched education to their students.
“By embracing innovative teaching techniques, integrating technology in education and promoting interdisciplinary approaches, we can ensure that our teachers are well equipped to provide enriching and transformative learning experience.”
Also present at the Presentation ceremony as a key note presenter, Principal of Accra College of Education, Professor Samuel Atintono advised that teachers under training must learn to adapt innovative teaching approaches in their teaching practices.
According to him, innovative teaching approaches are the most effective way of facilitating easy knowledge and skills acquisition on the part of learners.
“In preparing teachers for any classroom, one must ensure that the teachers are not only familiar with just the content of lessons but they ought to adapt innovative and creative approaches to make learning enjoyable for learners. Teacher training institutions, Universities and Colleges of Education must ensure that proper pedagogical and professional training of teachers.”
The presentation ceremony was held at the School of Distance Education as part of a number of activities organised by the School of Education and leadership to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the University of Ghana.
The School of Education and leadership began the commemorative activities on 14th July, 2023 with a healthwalk which saw members and lecturers and faculty members of the School engage in workout.
