Acting Dean of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Ghana, Professor Kwabena Doku-Amponsah, has underscored the urgent need for increased investment in young innovators to enhance Ghana’s position on the global innovation landscape.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers on May 23, Professor Doku-Amponsah highlighted the critical role of innovation—particularly in fields like Artificial Intelligence (AI)—in addressing contemporary global challenges.

His remarks come ahead of the second edition of the Achieving Show, scheduled for June 6, 2025, at the ISSER Conference Room, under the theme “Empowering the NextGen of Entrepreneurs.”

Professor Doku-Amponsah emphasized the need for universities to better equip students with practical skills and modern training to prepare them for future challenges.

“We must invest in our youth, as today’s complex issues require innovative solutions, often powered by AI and emerging technologies. It’s also essential that we reform our academic programs to meet the evolving demands of the world.”

Adding to the call, the convenor of the Achieving Show, Millicent Adoboe, also stressed the significance of leadership in entrepreneurship. She noted that successful entrepreneurs need courage, resilience, and the ability to inspire those around them.

“Leadership is non-negotiable in entrepreneurship. It takes boldness and perseverance to thrive. Entrepreneurs are role models, and that comes with a great deal of responsibility.”

The upcoming Achieving Show aims to empower young entrepreneurs by offering insights into leveraging Artificial Intelligence for business growth and navigating opportunities in emerging markets.
