Black Stars coach Otto Addo has urged Ghanaians to support the senior national team as they set sights on securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This follows the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morroco, after a 1-1 draw with Angola last Friday.
Undeterred by the recent disappointment, Otto Addo is now concentrating on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and is eager to redirect his team’s focus towards the next objective.
“I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry. I was also disappointed, but surely we have to move on now,” he told the press on Sunday.
“We need to do our best to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers, and it starts tomorrow.
“If you [Ghanaians] want us to go to the World Cup, you need to support us,” he said.
Ghana is now on second place in Group I, level on points with leaders Comoros, but only the group winner will advance to the knockout stage.
With crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar looming in March 2025, Addo is driven to make history by becoming the first coach to lead the Black Stars to consecutive World Cup appearances.
