Another by-election beckons as Ahanta West MP set to resign – Reports indicate

The Member of Parliament for Ahanta West constituency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party is reportedly set to resign from the House due to protracted ill health.

According to media reports, the MP has twice written to the leadership of the NPP to communicate his plans to resign from his post for health related issues.

Official reports reveal that the leadership of the party want him to continue in his role , but his relatives are adamant that he has to relinquish the seat and focus on gaining his health back.

Honourable Alexander Kojo Kum just returned from the United States a few  weeks ago after going to seek further medical care.

The MP who doubled as the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, resigned from the position on February 3,2023 on health grounds.

Since 2021, he has been bedriddden after falling ill for sometime.

The resignation of the MP will lead the country into a third by-election for the 8th Parliament of Ghana.

The earlier ones were that of the Kumawu and Assin North constituencies.
