The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed that Parliament reconvene on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

This decision was confirmed through a circular issued by the Speaker’s Office on December 11, 2024, officially designating the venue for the much-anticipated parliamentary session.

The directive follows an earlier notice from Speaker Bagbin, dated December 2, 2024, which announced the reconvening of Parliament to resume its duties.

The choice of date and venue comes amidst ongoing political deliberations and preparations for the post-election period. The December 16 session has sparked significant discussion in Ghanaian political circles due to its timing and the circumstances surrounding its announcement.

Speaker Bagbin had previously declined repeated requests from the Majority in Parliament to recall the House ahead of the December 7 general elections. These requests had been made to address legislative matters related to the electoral process, but the Speaker maintained the original date for reconvening.
