The SRC President of the University of Ghana, Richmond Ofori Larbi, has delivered the State of the SRC Address (SOSA), outlining key achievements, welfare interventions, and major projects aimed at improving student life.
The 69th SRC administration delivered its first State of the SRC Address for the 2025/2026 academic year on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the SRC Union Building.
Delivering the address, Mr. Ofori Larbi highlighted the administration’s progress since assuming office, emphasising academic support, financial relief initiatives, and a renewed commitment to student development.
“With emphasis on academics, we organised UGRC tutorials for Level 100 students to help them prepare for their interim assessments. We also donated food items to support students who are unable to afford them,” he said.
He added that the SRC also advocated a reduction in SRC dues to ease the financial burden on students.
“We [the SRC] pleaded for a decrease in SRC dues to reduce the burden on students,” he stated.
Touching on the Telecel-powered Tertiary Bundle project, the SRC President noted that many students initially subscribed under the impression that the SIM cards were free, prompting the SRC to intervene.
“The SRC, to make an informed decision, carried out a survey to gather students’ concerns regarding the Tertiary Bundle project. We were able to address the issue and allow uninterested students to opt out,” he explained.
He further indicated that major upcoming projects include the renovation of the JQB washrooms, provision of Wi-Fi for the Accra City Campus, expansion of internship opportunities for students, and the establishment of a Digital Learning Centre at Jean Nelson Aka Hall.
“At Jean Nelson Aka Hall, we plan to create a digital learning space. We also intend to renovate the JQB washrooms and provide Wi-Fi access for Accra City Campus students,” he added.
