Ghana’s men’s 4×100 metres relay team delivered one of the nation’s finest performances on the global stage, finishing fourth in the world at the World Athletics Championships.
The quartet of Benjamin Azamati, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Joseph Paul Amoah clocked 37.93 seconds in the final on Sunday,21st September,2025 at the Japan National Stadium, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
In a thrilling race, the United States stormed to gold in a world-leading time of 37.29 seconds , Canada took silver in 37.55 seconds (season’s best), while the Netherlands claimed bronze with a national record of 37.81 seconds.
Ghana followed in fourth, edging out traditional sprint nations and confirming their place among the world’s elite.
This result caps a remarkable championship for the team, who had already made history by running 37.79 seconds in the heats, a new national record and the second-fastest time ever by an African country.
Though a medal slipped away, the performance is being celebrated as a major breakthrough for Ghanaian athletics, showcasing the country’s growing strength in sprint relays and raising hopes for future success on the Olympic stage.
