Ghanaian Dancehall star Shatta Wale has thrown his support behind Evander Akrasi and Michael Yeng, candidates for the University of Ghana SRC President and Vice President positions, promising students a free concert if they emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
In a video posted by Michael Yeng on his social media platforms, Shatta Wale was seen casually dressed and standing in front of a white Benz, delivering a direct message to students.
“Hi guys, I want you people to vote for Evander and Yeng for the SRC president in Legon. When they win, I’m gonna come and perform for you guys — free show,” he said.
Shatta Wale joins a growing list of Ghanaian celebrities publicly backing the Evander-Yeng campaign. Earlier this semester, Evander organised the high-profile Beyond the Jo Hunt concert, which featured appearances from notable figures such as D Black, Serwaa Amihere, Bola Ray, and many others.
With Shatta Wale’s endorsement and promise of a live performance, the UGSRC race is gaining heightened attention both on campus and beyond.
