Save Ghana Movement has accused the government and flagbearers of political parties for using sweet words and lofty promises to deceive Ghanaians into voting for them in election years and campaign time.
The accusations were made during a press briefing through the leader of the movement, Robert Ansah.
According to the movement, tenure of previous governments had revealed that they were deliberate in making promises that they did not intend to keep except to win electoral fortunes.
The Save Ghana movement quoted the Vice president, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as an example, after he promised to provide free Wi-Fi access to every senior high school in the country but failed to do so.
The movement described his pursuit for presidency as questionable, with his initiatives gone unfulfilled and more promises being made.
“Now as he pursues the presidency, he has again promised to ensure that every student receives a laptop.”
The Movement demanded that Dr. Bawumia points out a single school that has benefited from the free Wi-Fi initiative as proof for the implementation of the policy.
They expressed their exhaustion with unfulfilled promises made by previous leaders.
They urged delegates and Ghanaians to consider this sentiment into account when selecting their flag bearer or voting for someone into presidency.
The Save Ghana movement seeked to point out the decision by former president, John Dramani Mahama to abolish exgratia.
The promise however, remained unfulfilled when he was in power.
They express a greater concern over NDC’s decision to elect him as the party’s flag bearer again.
The Movement concluded by urging Ghanaians to choose leaders who are not only visionaries but capable of turning their visions into reality.
Mr. Ansah urged Ghanaians across the country to choose leaders who have the country at heart and not their political parties.
According to him, this would ensure effective development of the country with little political influence.
