Former black stars player Samuel Inkoom has advised first-time players expected to represent Ghana at this year’s FIFA World Cup to remain disciplined and give their best performances at the tournament.

His comments come ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Inkoom urged the players not to put too much pressure on themselves as they prepare for the global showpiece.

According to him, the players should focus on making themselves, their families and Ghanaians proud by simply expressing their talent on the pitch rather than trying to do anything extraordinary.

“They have to go there and enjoy the talent that they have. We know some of them and we know what they can do,” he stated.

Inkoom also acknowledged the pressure that comes with playing at the World Cup and advised the players to remain mentally strong throughout the competition.

“The World Cup itself comes with a lot of pressure, so psychologically they have to be prepared and go there with confidence,” he added.

The former Black Stars defender further stressed the importance of discipline and respect within the team setup, urging the new players to respect senior members of the squad and adhere strictly to team regulations.

“It’s all about preparation. They have to be on time and follow the measures the coach puts in place. That is the advice I would give to them,” he said.
