Radio Univers is set to bring back its children’s program Kidz with Vision after several years off air. The show will provide a platform for children to express themselves and engage in meaningful conversations.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Radio Univers ahead of the premiere, Senior lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education in the School of Education and Leadership at the University of Ghana and Coordinator of Kidz with Vision, Dr. Araba Osei-Tutu outlined the program’s vision, noting that it seeks to empower children to express themselves, boost their confidence and improve communication skills.
“The show is set to encourage children to talk about issues that are important to them to promote learning and engagement with children across the country and across the world. The idea here is to give children the space within the media environment to explore and to become who they can be.”
Unlike most children’s programs, Kidz with Vision will be fully run by the children. Dr. Osei-Tutu highlighted that they have chosen a range of topics, some of which touch on wider national debates.
“One conversation they want to have, for instance, is why they have to cut their hair before going to senior high school,” she noted. “Hopefully it will not just be about fun stuff, but also things that are educational, conversations that move policy, conversations that help them to know their role as individuals within the country.”
She also emphasized the importance of encouraging children to speak up while guiding them when necessary.
“Children who are bold and confident in the things they say are not necessarily disrespectful. If they are expressing their opinion or perspective, we need to be able to make a distinction between that and something offensive. When a child goes overboard, we guide instead of shutting them down.”
Kidz with Vision is expected to give children the opportunity to explore, learn and contribute to national conversations while nurturing their confidence for the future. The show officially commences on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 2 p.m.
