Prof. Frimpong-Boateng granted Ghc 2 million bail by OSP

Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation , Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has been granted a Ghc 2 million bail by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The latest development follows the former Minister and renowned heart surgeon honouring an invitation from the OSP to help the Office to investigate issues of corruption detailed in the galamsey report, authored by Professor Frimpong Boateng during his tenure as IMCM (Inter Ministerial Committee  On Illegal Mining)Head.

According to official sources, Professor Frimpong-Boateng has since been granted bail .

On May 4, 2023, it will be recalled that the OSP extended an invite to the former Minister as part of its investigations into the much publicised galamsey report authored by him, which was subsequently referred to the investigative body by the Presidency for further action into corruption related issues.

Professor Frimpong-Boateng had alleged in the report that appointees and high ranking officials of the New Patriotic Party government were neck deep in galamsey related activities which were making the fight against the menace very difficult.

In a statement dated May 4, 2023, the renowned heart surgeon acknowledged receipt of the summons from the OSP and gave his firmest commitment to avail himself to help with further investigations into the information provided in the report.

The work of the OSP will bring clarity to issues of corruption and corruption related offences with regards to the activities of the IMCM and its scope of work.
