Ghanaian politician, Prof. Al-Hassan Wayo Seini has revealed the intricacies of his political journey over the years through his memoir, titled ‘I speak my mind’.
Excitement filled the air as book enthusiasts gathered at the book’s grand launch on 20th December, 2023. The venue was adorned with colorful decorations, setting the perfect backdrop for the highly anticipated release of the memoir by the seasoned politician.
The event kicked off with outstanding remarks from esteemed academic, Prof. Daniel Bruce Sarpong, who shared wonderful attributes of the author.
In a captivating speech, Prof. Wayo Seni explained the reason for the memoir’s release whilst citing some contents of the book.
“The main reason for writing this book is to reveal the true colors and mystery of Ghanaian politics.”
“The Progress Party I loved. I named a chapter this because of its relentless fight against corruption. Chapter four is titled, the return of John Agyekum Kuffour, the complete politician. If you read the chapter you will know why I called him the complete politician,” the author added.
The book, described as ‘a gripping tale of a diligent Ghanaian politician’, has already garnered significant buzz in literary circles. As attendees mingled and discussed their excitement, it was clear that this book had struck a chord with readers. Attendees were captivated by the author’s words, eagerly anticipating the chance to get their hands on a signed copy.
The book launch also featured an auctioning session, where attendees were presented with the opportunity to gain first possession of the book; the first auctioned book was sold at GHC 20,000.
As the event drew to a close, attendees eagerly lined up to purchase their own copies of the memoir as the author graciously signed each book; it was also an opportunity for the readers to connect with the author through deep conversations.
The 193-page-book has 9 chapters starting from the author’s introduction into politics further down to his journey in the field.
The book also focused on key figures in Ghana’s political space such as former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, whom the author described as the complete politician in the history of the country’s politics, and the journey of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in becoming President.
