President John Dramani Mahama has directed that all fuel allowances and allocations to political appointees be scrapped off with immediate effect.

‎According to a statement from the presidency, this action forms part of government’s broader efforts to cut down  government expenditure and channel resources   into priority areas.

‎This follows a major downsizing of presidential appointees (Ministers and presidential office staff) and the stopping of satellite TV subscriptions for offices at the presidency and other government facilities.
