In a monumental step towards strengthening Ghana’s oil and gas industry, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially commissioned the Takoradi Oil and Gas Harbour. The inauguration ceremony, held in Takoradi, marked the completion of a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance offshore oil exploration, drilling, and service delivery within the country’s energy sector.

Speaking at the event, President Akufo-Addo expressed his optimism about the harbour’s transformative impact on Ghana’s economy. He described it as a pivotal milestone, stating:

“The commissioning of the Takoradi Oil and Gas Harbour is a key milestone. This facility would not only streamline offshore supplies but also, with its heavily induced engineering exploration, would help with petroleum drilling within the country. This would firm Ghana’s position in the oil and gas industry.”

The project was developed through a public-private partnership and is expected to create thousands of jobs, aligning with the government’s vision for job creation and economic growth. President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the harbour’s establishment would improve Ghana’s competitiveness in the global energy market while fostering local expertise and capacity building in the oil and gas industry.

“This facility would serve as a hub for offshore supply services and bolster petroleum drilling, enabling Ghana to meet its growing energy demands and secure a stronger foothold in the global energy sector.”

The Takoradi Oil and Gas Harbour, strategically located on Ghana’s coast, features advanced engineering and logistical capabilities. It is expected to attract investment, support energy companies, and provide a significant boost to the country’s oil and gas infrastructure.

“The commissioning of the harbour underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging natural resources for national development and is seen as a step towards achieving energy security and economic resilience.”

With this new facility, Ghana is poised to enhance its oil and gas output while creating a ripple effect of economic benefits for the local community and the country at large.
