The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association has called off a planned industrial action which started on Monday , June 26,2023.
The decision was taken by the Executives of the association after a 2 hour meeting with the Minister for Roads and Highways , Honourable Kwasi Amoako-Atta and officials from the Ministry.
The decision takes full effect from today, June 29,2023.
Speaking in a media engagement after the meeting , the Vice Chairman of the Association , Sunday Alabi indicated that the decision to call off the strike will take effect from midnight of June 29,2023 and subsequently work will resume in earnest tomorrow, Friday , June 30,2023.
” From our checks, works on the access routes to the depots in Kumasi ,Takoradi and Buipe are being improved as a 7 member committee has been formed to deliberate and think through the projects in various phases to ensure a congenial working atmosphere for the parties involved”
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Honourable Kwasi Amoako-Atta stated the readiness of the Ministry to collaborate with the Executives of the Association to finalize the composition of the group which will speed up how the government is able to solve the challenges of the Association.
” As part of my work schedule, i will make it a point to come here once a week to check up on the progress of work ,so let us all put our hands to the wheels to make this project a reality , as we strive to build a better Ghana for ourselves and future generations”
The Association declared the sit down strike on Monday ,June 26,2023 to protest about the bad roads many of the tankers had to ply to move petroleum products to all parts of the country.
