The University of Ghana management has announced a planned power outage that will occur on Sunday 9th April 2023.
The interruption in power supply is expected to last between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm and is necessary to allow the electrical section of the Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD) to carry out emergency preventive maintenance work on the Medium Voltage Network.
Several areas within the University campus and its environs will be affected by the outage. These areas include the School of Performing Arts, CBAS and its environs, East Legon and surrounding areas, Legon Hall, Akuafo Hall, Mensah Sarbah Hall, Valco 1&2, Vikings Hostel, UG Basic School, SPH, Noguchi, UGEL Halls, Jubilee, ISH 1&2, Banking Square, and surrounding areas, as well as the PDMSD yard.
Other areas to be affected by the power outage include Legon Hill, Lower Hill, Little Legon, Ayido Circle & Crescent, Link Gate Chalets, Ayido Flats, South Legon, and Central Cafeteria.
The University community is advised to take note of this planned outage and make necessary arrangements to minimize any inconvenience it may cause.
The University of Ghana has assured all stakeholders of its commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of its facilities.
According to the PDMSD, the maintenance work on the Medium Voltage Network is essential to prevent unforeseen power outages in the future. The University encourages students and faculty members to cooperate with the maintenance team to ensure a successful exercise.
