Black Queens of Ghana held their first training session at the Accra sports stadium on Monday afternoon ahead of a herculean task against the Copper Queens of Zambia on Friday, with a place in the Olympic games up for grabs.

Nora Hauptle’s side will host the copper queens of Zambia at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium for the third-round Olympic games qualifying match.

The game against the Zambian side will be a massive test for Nora Hauptle and the black queens since her appointment as head coach of the side.

Eighteen out of the twenty three invited players have arrived safely at the camp of the black queens, with the remaining five expected to arrive in Accra on the latter part of Monday for the team’s second training sessions on Tuesday.

Key players such as Jennifer Cudjoe, Doris Boaduwaa, Evelyn Badu, and Freda Ayisi, who is set to make her black Queens debut, have all joined the queens camp session.

Hauptle would be striving to better her impressive record of 10 victories in 11 matches, when they face Zambia in the first leg of the Olympic qualifier on Friday.

The black queens are poised for action as they are determined to rewrite history; Ghana has failed to book an Olympic spot for 2 decades, making the task of the team more difficult against an inspired Zambian side.
