The Electoral Commission of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has released the final vetting results for the 58th Congress elections, with University of Ghana final-year student Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah emerging top in the Secretary for International Relations race with 81.57%.
He was followed by Christabel Mills Baaba (76.71%) and Solomon Akragi Awannaab (71.20%).
In the presidential race, seven candidates were vetted, with Rashid Ibrahim (75.42%), Nazeer Saeed Mohammed Dahourou (74.34%), and Alvin Adjei Otchere (73.17%) ranking among the top scorers. All were declared qualified to contest.
For the position of General Secretary, Edward Zanyoh Tetteh (69.71%) and Benedict Amelorku (62.85%) were both recommended. In the Secretary for Education race, Bismark Bekoe Offei (72.28%) was the sole candidate recommended.
Other notable outcomes included:
• Secretary for Finance: John Afrim (65.14%), Emmanuel Agyei Akwasi (66.57%), and Alfred Otabli Afful (59.50%) — all recommended.
• Secretary for Women Development: Masiata Sufyani (71.14%) and Mavis Kpemka Mammi (80.09%) — both recommended.
• Secretary for Society and Welfare: Ellen Appiah Adekua Twumasimaa (67.42%) — recommended.
• Secretary for Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Skills Development: Titus Owusu Darko (73.85%) — recommended.
The report also revealed that several candidates were disqualified in various categories, including the Secretary for Union Development portfolio, which will be reopened for nominations from Friday, September 19, to Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The Electoral Commission assured stakeholders of transparency and fairness throughout the process, noting that final results will be released after review by the Judicial Council.
