Former President of Ghana and Flag Bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani
Mahama has criticized the current NPP government’s performance, stating that rewarding it with another success come December 7 would only disregard the hardships faced by Ghanaians.
Speaking during one of his recent campaign tours, Mahama emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should face electoral defeat to reflect on the pain it has caused the nation.
“When a government has performed so poorly, you do not reward it with another electoral success because that breeds impunity and sends a signal that anybody can come and do anything, toy with the lives of our people, and still he will be rewarded with success in elections.”
” The NPP deserves to go back into opposition to reflect on the pain they have inflicted on Ghanaians.”
He pointed out that Ghana needs experienced leadership to address its problems, noting that people such as nurses, teachers, doctors, policemen, and farmers are struggling even more now than the NPP claimed they were in 2016, when the NDC was in power.
“Where the country is today is not an issue of trial and error. We need an experienced handto take this country and put it back on its feet. In 2016, they said everybody was suffering, nursesare suffering, teachers are suffering, doctors are suffering, policemen are suffering, farmersare suffering but today, those people are suffering more.”
