The Concerned National Service Personnel Association of Ghana is demanding immediate explanation and apology from the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi over a comment he made on the scheme in an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show.

Speaking on the show on Monday, 2nd October 2023, the Executive Director of the Scheme revealed that National Service Personnel have had their allowances paid up to the month of August, in response to a question the host of the program asked concerning the payment the Scheme owns the national service personnel across the country.

Mr. Osei Assibey also made a comment that if some personnel are having issues regarding their unpaid allowances, they should consult their Municipal and District Directors for resolution.

According to the aggrieved personnel , Mr Osei Assibey Antwi  made the assertion knowing  that the District Directors are not in charge of the Payment of allowances to NSS Personnel within their Districts.

”We are by this Release setting the record straight that the National Service Scheme has not paid Allowances for the months of August and September while other personnel have also not receive their April Allowances.”

“The 2022/2023 Service year is scheduled to end this month (October 2023) but as at now some of our colleagues have not received their Clothes which was deducted from their allowances at the start of the service year but we never heard the Executive Director making any comment about it during his interview on GTV.”

The Concerned NSP also spoke on how some arrears from previous months have remained unpaid contrary to the promises made by the Management of the National Service Scheme.

“Arrears from January to June which the Scheme promised to pay to personnel after the upward adjustment of the monthly allowances has still not been paid to us despite the numerous promises they made to us when the increment was announced some months ago.”

They finally demanded for the payment of their arrears for the month of August.

”We are urging management of the Scheme and whoever is concerns to immediately disburse the August Allowances into our accounts because we now understand that the monies has been released for disbursement per the comment made by the Executive Director NSS because things are hard for our service personnel across the country.”
