The Manager of the Night Market App, Harold Benji, has responded to student concerns about rising prices on the platform, attributing the increase to inflation and internal operational costs.
The Night Market App, designed to facilitate food and service purchases for the University of Ghana community, has received mixed reactions from students.
While some users appreciate its convenience, others have raised concerns about high prices, delayed deliveries, and incorrect orders from vendors.
Speaking to Univers Business, Harold Benji outlined the key factors behind the price adjustments, emphasizing the platform’s efforts to keep costs as low as possible.
“We have been careful with how we increase pricing on the platform. Our service remains significantly cheaper than alternatives because we are critical about price adjustments. For the longest time, we did not increase delivery fees, but with inflation, our costs also went up.”
He further explained that operational changes contributed to the price adjustments.
“We had to remove certain aspects of our operations, which also came with costs. Even so, we have been mindful of keeping prices within an affordable range for students.”
Despite these challenges, Benji reassured students that his team is committed to maintaining reasonable pricing while improving the platform’s efficiency.
“We understand the concerns and are working to optimize the platform without making costs unbearable for students and young professionals.”
