The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has revealed plans to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2025 with a series of exciting events. The celebrations will feature a variety of activities, including concerts with both local and international artistes, lectures, symposiums, and a grand dinner gala.
“One big thing is going to happen, and that is we are going to have all-women festival,” he said.
The launch event took place on November 7, 2024, at the Accra Tourist Information Centre, where the President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, shared details about the much-anticipated celebration. Speaking at the event, Simons expressed the union’s excitement for the upcoming festivities, which are aimed at honoring the rich legacy of Ghanaian music and showcasing the diversity of local talent.
In addition to the concerts, lectures, and symposiums, MUSIGA has also announced the inclusion of a special all-women festival. This new initiative aims to spotlight the contributions of women in Ghana’s music industry and further promote gender inclusivity within the sector.
“So we are inviting female musicians from all over the world, and it is self-sponsored if you are coming from outside. All the embassies will publish it, so we are expecting women to come to Ghana and then they will mount the stage.
There will be outdoors, there will be in-doors, there will be church programmes, and we’re thinking about bringing Cece Winans and co here, to collaborate with our artistes, so that at the end of next year, there will be harmony between us and artistes from all over the world,” Bessa Simons added.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations are set to bring together music lovers, industry professionals, and international guests to reflect on the union’s remarkable journey and its significant impact on the music scene in Ghana.
