West Ham United and Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus says Jay Jay Okocha is the best African player ever, snubbing countryman Abedi Pele.

Kudus, who joined the Hammers from Dutch giants Ajax in a £38m deal in the summer, has featured prominently for his side this season, netting 13 times across all competitions.

His switch from the Dutch capital (Amsterdam) to the English capital (London) saw him become the 3rd Ghanaian ever to sign for the hammers, after John Painstil and Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew.

Kudus has since then gone on to settle in at his new club, with manager David Moyes attributing his settling to the experience garnered by the Ghanaian across the different leagues he’s played in.

Mohammed Kudus, dubbed as an important player by David Moyes, has been West Ham United’s leading scorer in the Europa League with 5 goals — as the Hammers aim to clinch consecutive European trophies after Moyes led them to their first in 43 years in last season’s Europa Conference League triumph.

In response to the most sought out questions about the Ghanaian on the internet, Mohammed Kudus named Nigerian maestro Jay Jay Okocha as Africa’s best-ever ahead of Countryman Abedi Pele

“I’ll say Okocha. From explaining, on how, in my lens, I see creative players and trying to entertain the game, you know? That can never be washed away. The fans can never forget the experience and the entertainment you give them on the pitch, you know? I know now goals and assists are important (and stuff like that), but I like creative players and players that entertain the fans, you know? Try to do something different from what everyone is doing than just passing the ball,” he said.

Mohammed Kudus’ decision on naming Jay Jay Okocha as his all-time greatest African player was couched on his creative ability and displays.

Jay Jay Okocha finished as runner-up for the African best player award in 1998, and finished in third place in 2003 and 2004.
